The "Official Word" About Me
Frances is a Texan-Canadian-Coloradoan entrepreneur - a writer, speaker, marketing strategist, tech education specialist and storyteller who loves telling stories that champion big ideas and generate big impact.
She's the president and CEO of Wired Flare, the online communications company she founded in 2011. Under her leadership, the organization has become an award-winning company and the first company of its kind to earn B Corp certification in Canada. Frances' role at Wired Flare has afforded her the opportunity to work with diverse B2B and B2C clients, and her strategic experience includes a wide range of online and offline marketing methodologies.
Her background in Folklore has allowed her to bring a unique perspective to the field of marketing. Contrary to general knowledge, Folklore is more than stories…it’s the communication of belief systems. That, in fact, is exactly what must be done in order to build a company’s brand.
Frances is a National Board Certified teacher who spent 10 years in the classroom before earning her MA in folklore. Now she combines two of her passions (online communication and education) as a consultant to support the implementation of and development of technology in the 21st Century classroom.
Frances speaks internationally to inspire and educate audiences on subjects related to marketing, online strategy, technology in education and the power of authentic communication. She is also a regular contributor to a number of publications, including Progress Magazine and the Franchise Voice.
Frances is passionate about telling stories that generate big impact, both on business growth and for the greater good. Her work is about much more than helping her clients increase profit …it’s about getting to the core of why they do what they do and helping them achieve their end goals. Those end goals, the visions, the ultimate impact on the world that our collective stories make…that’s why she does what she does...and she loves it.
Frances was a finalist for the 2015 Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards in Atlantic Canada, and in 2012 Frances founded the Wired Mic fundraiser for FEED Nova Scotia. She is a community volunteer and devotes her time and resources to multiple non-profit organizations.
Her passion is to use her knowledge to help inspire authentic, real, soulful communication that affects positive change in the world.
In my free time you'll find me spending time with my husband and daughter, probably enjoying the great outdoors or some good tunes. If I'm not with them, I'm likely curled up with a good book.
At the core of everything I do is my mission to have a positive impact on the world. I want to make the world a better place with the work that I do and by actively supporting causes in which I believe.
One purpose is to educate about the harmful toxins that exist in our household cleaning products. Seriously, folks...find out what you're using. Here's a great resource from David Suzuki that will help: The Dirt on Toxic Chemicals in Household Cleaning Products. You'll likely be even more shocked to hear that many of these chemicals are in the baby products we use are on children. That's how I found out: the hard way!
Another purpose is to support those in need in my local community and around the world. If you're looking for a good cause to donate to, here are some of my favorites:
